Flannery's UberCute post, and Megan's curious post, flipped a slow switch in my head. I used to occasionally ask people questions, sometimes drunk at a bar too. You know, conversation starters (read: annoying), like, "If you could have written any song, what song would it be?" A buddy of mine once said, without even thinking about it, "Surrender, by Cheap Trick."
I thought that was a pretty good answer. Rockin' song, kinda wise and fairly punk, plus I had never heard that answer before.
Me? If I'm anything, I'm cliche, so I'd say, "A Day In The Life," by The Beatles. I'm no expert, but to me, it's the perfect pop song. Universal alienation, modern existentialism. It's catchy, and you can sing along with it.
What song would you want to have written?

That's a good question...I'm going to have to think about it. Thanks for the link!
I can think of dozens, but right off the bat, "Moonlight Mile" by the Rolling Stones.
Probably "Free Bird"...
Baba 'O'Reily
I've got it:
I'll Stop the World and Melt with You.
A Day in The Life is a great choice. I think I'll go with my theme song, Sunshine Superman by Donovan.
Johnny - So much good Stones. I'd pick Jigsaw puzzle from their collection.
Dirty - Great song. I always liked Tuesdays Gone alot.
Anonymous - Nice.
Flan - That song has a very special place in my heart. It's one of maybe two songs I remember off the first mix tape a girl made me. Good ole Joan.
Natalie - I really don't know enough Donovan. I gotta check that one out. And +1 for having a theme song. :)
Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang.
Catherinette - Thanks for coming by and commenting.
Bad Touch = Hilarity.
Natalie - Checked it out. I'm kinda embarrassed I didn't know the title or artist of that song. And how did it become your theme song?
Jam On It by Newcleus
Anonymous - Dove, is that you?
Give Peace A Chance, probably.
Ooooh, Imagine, for sure.
I would like to have written "Here Comes The Sun", but if George Harrison wasn't the composer, I'm not sure the song would mean so much to me.
Crap. I can't think of anything off the top of my head. It'd probably end up being a Dylan song.
I'm totally stealing the question though.
Dave & Team Brennan - Lot's a Lennon love in that house.
Elizabeth - I'm pretty sure it is. Also, lot's a Beatles love on this list.
Megan - Shelter From The Storm is my favorite Dylan.
Bird on a Wire is my favorite.
Flannery - I loved Mel Gibson in that movie.
I thought you might know the song if you heard it. It is my theme song because one day I decided that I should have something happy going through my head while walking down the street to kind of set my groove to and make me look cool. That one worked, in theory.
Natalie - Donovan is pretty good for that task. Mellow Yellow would work for me perfectly.
Phil-- my guess is that Vikkitikkitavi's blog pseudonym is based on Donavon's song Rikkitikkitavi, based on the children's story about a mongoose. Lots of Donovan around here.
My favorite Donovan song is "Universal Soldier," which was written by Buffy Saint-Marie.
Johnny - I think that story is called Riki tiki tabi? It's got the two cobra's in it as well.
Phil! Aaaaaaaaa! My Eyes!!!
Even Mel Gibson can't kill that song, no matter what bloody aparatus he tries to use.
Definitely 'Tarzan Boy' by Baltimora.
Frank - Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (4X)
Awesomne song. I immediately jumped on Itunes to download, they don't have it. Fuckers.
