My kids enjoy the 'Little Bear' cartoon on Nickelodeon. I like them too. They are charming and fun.
My problem is, what's up with the clothes?
Father Bear has a three piece suit on. Mother Bear is fully clothed as well.
Little Bear? No clothes. Naked.
What's up with that?

I've only seen the show a few times(I don't have kids which makes me watchinga little odd) but I loved the books as a child. Little Bear didn't have clothes in the books either, but his parents did. Very odd.
I haven't seen the show, but is the bear a boy or a girl? I can't really explain why there are no cloths on the child except that they are not defining the sex of the bear. As far as the cloths on the parents. That is how young children associate moms and dads. I have seen videos of young children who do not assoiciate with sex to determine who is which parent, but it is determined based on actions at outward appearance.
Or they just did it to mess with you.
Perhaps Little Bear is feral. Or a slut.
Maybe he should be called "Little Bare"?
BTW: I try not to question the rules of cartoons. The rules are: there are no rules.
Natalie - Do you remember if Little Bear is a boy or girl?
Anonymous - Good point about the sex. I always thought Little Bear was a boy, but that could just be my prejudice. Also, without a doubt they are trying to mess with me.
Geo - Probably a little of both.
Flan - Good one.
Hey, did you guys see the one a week or two ago where they had the fake funeral for the little girl's doll? No, I'm totally not kidding!
We love love love Little Bear around here (the show and the books). It's so peaceful and serene...just so wholesome without being annoying (I'm looking at you, Franklin).
I too have questioned why Little Bear doesn't wear clothes when everyone else does.
I've thought the same exact thing.
Great minds think alike.
If Little Bear were a girl, he'd still be naked, except for a bow on his head.
Little Bear was refered to as a 'he' today on the show. So I guess we know Little Bear is a boy.
Team Brennan - I think I was drifting in and out of a nap while that episode was on. It's interesting, I'm not sure if I disagree with a cartoon dealing with the subject. Philip and Patrick have attended a funeral, and death is a part of life.
Chaylene - Little Bear an exellent cartoon. I agree, as do my Boys, about Franklin.
Valerie - I'll bet alot of parents, at least a few reading this blog, have asked that question. It's tough not to when you watch alot of these cartoon. Like, Thomas the Tank Engine, is essentially a slave, as are all the engines.
Flan - I'm not sure, some of Little Bears friends seem to be girls but have no bow.
Yeah, I loved it, they got a nice box from mother bear and brought flowers and everything. And then decided the doll was just pretending to be dead. The duck was out of the loop though and thought she was dead for real. Silly duck.
But if you're a bear, and a girl, and the *star* of the show: You get a bow.
God that's so hot.
I don't know about you, but there was a family that lived on my block when I was growing up, and their kids ran around naked all of the time.
You couldn't PAY them to buy clothes for their kids. Every day: naked, naked NAKED!
So, I guess I'm not too concerned with the naked bear. I'd be more concerned about the clothed ones.
