C.I.A. Reqruitment Commercial

Is anyone else alarmed by this? Do they really need to run commercials advertising the benefits and opportunities at the C.I.A.
I'll admit most of what I know about the C.I.A. is limited to what I picked up from movies and T.V. I always figured they plucked the best and brightest out of the highest institutes of learning and the armed forces. Do they really expect to improve the quality of applicants by running adds on cable? If anyone is considering a career change, here is their link.

When I was rooming with a buddy from college, he applied to the CIA. A guy calling himself "Gene Burksella" started leaving cryptic messages for my friend to contact him. It was exactly what you'd have expected.

The mother of another college buddy worked for the CIA back in the late seventies and early eighties. Her job was to read and translate Russian newspapers and magazines. About 99% of the CIA's activities involve nothing more breathtaking than reading newspapers and translating civilian and military radio broadcasts.

Sounds like heaven compared to my job, johnny yen.

After the WMD in Iraq fiasco, I'm glad to see they are trying to find employees in more non-traditional ways. It can only help.
